A calm approach to screen time
Screens are part of family life, and guilt helps nobody. Most PARP activities are screen-free by design — not because screens are bad, but because hands-on play is where children this age learn fastest.
A few practical principles families find useful:
- Co-viewing beats solo viewing. A screen activity done together, with talk, is a different thing from one done alone.
- Transitions are the hard part. A two-minute warning and a "what's next" (snack, garden, activity) makes ending screen time far smoother.
- Swap, don't just remove. PARP's ten-minute activities are designed to be an easy "what's next".
You can filter the whole activity library to screen-free activities from the Activities page.
